How we began
Reem grew up in an environmentally conscious family in the UK, the idea of recycling and reusing was a part of everyday life. Having spent several years living in Dubai, Reem loved the vibrant and cosmopolitan atmosphere, but missed thrifting, whether it be at a luxury consignment store, a car boot sale or those coveted vintage Sunday markets.
"How many other shopaholics in Dubai that also wanted to sell their used designer luxury items or hunt for them? Why could I sell a used car, but not a deisgner handbag, clothing or haute couture clothing, even though some items cost more than a car?" – Reem
Emirati's arabic culture welcomes us into their community with such warmth, generosity and kindness – it was the only encouragement Reem needed to take the plunge to introduce and promote recycling and reusing to the bustling fashion scene of the UAE.
AND JUST LIKE THAT, the UAE's first luxury fashion consignment store began. Reems Closet opened in April 2008.
The response was amazing. Reems Closet made headlines in the Gulf News and The National News. The consignment store soon became known as one of the UAE's "hidden retail treasures" and the "old curiosity shop."
Since opening, Reems Closet has continued to flourish as Dubai’s first and most respected designer boutique for luxury consignment. Reems Closet now boasts two landmark stores in Dubai, an online store as well as an app. With a clientelle of over 6000 people regularly selling, buying and trading, the fashion community has embraced the recycle/resale concept as Reem knew they would and continues to grow every day.

Our brick-and-mortar store was always busy with our community of loyal shoppers, who love the experience of shopping in-store, but COVID gave us the push we needed and our fully integrated e-commerce website was born. A digital platform showcasing available stock only. Don't you hate it when you see items you've missed out on? At reemscloset.com sold items are pulled from the webpage immediately, so all those amazing treasures you see are available for purchase.
Shortly after launching the website, the Reems Closet app went live providing even more convenience for shoppers to find that must-have pre-loved fashion item missing in their wardrobe.
